A&L Berg Foundation Opens – ARTnews.com

Art patrons and philanthropists Allison K. and Larry Berg have announced the creation of the A&L Berg Foundation with two inaugural programs that aim to support emerging visual arts professionals and artist-led social practices. The foundation’s ESAP Fellowship offers research travel, networking and mentorship opportunities, peer support, and financial resources to curators, arts administrators, and arts professionals. Its Artist Social Impact Grant provides support to artists engaged in social practices and community projects. Related Articles In addition to being a collector, Allison K. Berg is also a writer, editor, and producer, who will take on the role as president of the foundation. She has also served as a trustee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art since 2017. “We will be satisfying a need for intentional programming, access, and tools to support future agents for change,” said news Allison K. Berg. Carolyn Ramo has been appointed executive director of the foundation. She was most recently executive director of the grantmaking nonprofit Artadia, where she expanded the scope of the organization’s awards program over the course of her 11-year tenure. “We want the A&L Berg Foundation to lay the groundwork for exponential change, uplifting individuals who can influence and lead efforts in their communities, and cultivating lasting structures for empowerment among both artists and arts professionals,” added Ramo.
